Council of national minorities established in Georgia

Council of national minorities is established by administration of the Georgian ombudsman. Chief expert of Tolerance Center by ombudsman administration Beka Mindiashvili coordinates the council's activity. According to him, the council aims at establishing of all-civil forum of national minorities in Georgia.

As Javakheti A-Info agency informs, although the council does not possess executive power, nevertheless Mindiashvili is sure, that the agency may play active role in relations between authorities and national minorities. Idea of the center's establishment was formulated by European Center of National Minorities in Georgia. According to statement, published earlier, the Council structure is open for organizations representing national minorities, as well as organizations defending ones, and acting in sphere of civil integration.
